Back Packs To Help Prevent Back Pain

Back pain is likely to affect 80% of us at some point in our lives and it can be excruciatingly painful as well as debilitating.  There are many causes of back pain including; posture, medical conditions and general health issues.  Often we can reduce the impact of back pain by taking care of our body and changing our lives to accommodate it.  Simple measures such as; losing weight or exercising more can help us to control the pain in our backs.  In the past bed rest was considered to be a good way to deal with back pain but research has shown that keeping moving, despite the pain, is the best course of action.  Back pain can be triggered by; bad posture, turning round too quickly, stretching and carrying heavy bags – just by thinking a little bit about how you move and the pressure you put on your back is enough to make a little bit of difference to the pain you are feeling.

Carrying gadgets and lunch around can often cause pressure on your back and lead to back pain, the best type of bag to carry your stuff in is a back pack because it not only leaves your hands free it also allows the weight of your pack to be distributed down through your body. You must make sure that you wear your back pack correctly and don’t overload it or you will face further back problems. This diagram shows the correct way to carry a backpack on your back.

When you pack your back pack you must pack it in a certain order to make sure that you are distributing the weight correctly.  This diagram from, ‘Her Packing List‘, provides detailed instructions on how to pack your back pack correctly.  Obviously you will only packing a daily back pack but you can apply the instructions to whatever size back pack you are using.

These days back packs are big business and there are many designs available, Spiral and Hype produce extremely brightly coloured back packs that would look great on any holiday.  We have selected three classic back packs from Stand-Out.Net ranging from the robust Comutor 12 Hour Back Pack, The roomy Eastpak Provider Back Pack and the Classic Spiral Back Pack. These bags have all been chosen for their pedigree and because they are a good example of good value high quality back packs.

How To Get Your Feet Ready For Flip Flops

The increase in heat and humidity in the summer months can play havoc with the welfare of our feet, causing them to; sweat,  blister and crack.  Looking after your feet in the summer is very important because it prevents you from getting painful blisters, broken skin and infections.  Choosing suitable footwear is also a good way to preserve the health of your feet, when the sun comes out we tend to choose light footwear like flip flops and sandals because they feel light and let our feet breathe. The NHS Choices website advises us to have a selection of different types of shoes to wear so that our feet don’t suffer wear and tear in the same places all of the time.

Here are some tips to make your feet flip flop ready:-

  • Trim your toe nails using either, clippers, scissors or a file.  This prevents painful ingrowing toenails and looks tidy too.
  • Wear bare feet – this is the most natural way to stop your feet from getting sweaty and smelly.
  • Only wear flip flops for a short time as they don’t support your feet and cause your ankles to hurt.
  • Change your socks daily and make sure that they are mainly cotton to prevent a build up of sweat.
  • Eliminate dry skin with an; emery board, foot file or pumice stone and moisturise.
  • Lorraine Jones, a podiatrist from The Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists, says the key to preventing summer blisters is to keep your feet dry, wear shoes or sandals that fit well and aren’t too loose, and give your feet ample rest so they don’t get hot and sweaty‘. (NHS Choices)
  • Treat foot infections – Wear flip flops in public places and avoid getting Athlete foot.
  • Wash sweat away, make sure you wash your feet everyday and use and anti bacterial soap to freshen your feet.

If you follow all of these guidelines you will have lovely feet that anyone would like to massage and you will look great at the beach.

Eleven Degrees – A look At An Emerging Clothing Brand.

The Lake District is famous for many great things such as; Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding, Grasmere Gingerbread, Jennings Beer, Helvelyn, Lake Windermere and Kendal Mint Cake.  An exciting new clothing brand called Eleven Degrees is yet another fantastic addition to the list.  Eleven Degrees is yet another great creation from the beautiful little town of Kendal and only a stone’s throw away from imposing mountains and glittery lakes in Cumbria.  Eleven Degrees is brand new clothing brand that is inspired by nights out in the city rather than clomping around muddy fields.  Created in 2014 by Kendal businessman, Christian Hoyles and fronted by Gaz Beadle from Geordie Shore, the Eleven Degrees brand exudes the presence of an established company.

Gaz Beadle from Geordie Shore, who is a self confessed womaniser, has headed Eleven Degree’s campaign to achieve world domination in the men’s fashion industry.  If we are to look at Eleven Degrees social media progress the mere fact that they have over 25K followers on Facebook and 8,000 on Twitter demonstrates that they have chosen an image that appeals directly to the customer base they were aiming for.

In an interview with a local paper Chris Hoyle stated that “We are aiming at the new-found man, between 14 and 30, who really cares about his appearance.”  We anticipate that there are likely to be some men that are new-found and over thirty who would still look good wearing these stylish threads, also the slightly more mature bloke is probably more able to afford the inflated price of Eleven Degrees clothing.

With an average price of approximately £35 for a t-shirt it is important to look at the collection to see why they should have such a hefty price tag.  Without having a t-shirt in the office to touch it is impossible to discuss the quality of the material used but we can consider the impact of the design.  T-shirts described as, ‘Brand Carriers’, tend to be plain black or white cotton t-shirts with the Eleven Degrees logo on the front and the word eleven in hollow writing on the back of the neck.  Many of the t-shirt designs are based on either floral or paisley pattern that covers the whole of the t-shirt or is situated as a strip down one side, many of these are made from 100% polyester.  There are also t-shirts with zips on, ones that look like football t-shirts and some kinky ones that are covered in mesh.

With the brand being so new it is very difficult to find online reviews and finding celebrities, other than Gaz Beadle, wearing Eleven Degrees clothing is very rare.  At the moment you can by Eleven Degrees Clothing mainly in online stores such as Stand-Out.Net, Urban Celebrity and Pride Clothing.  If you are young, free, stylish, new found man with plenty of cash you may want to take the plunge and try an Eleven Degrees T-shirt for size.  If you do please tell us what you think.

Keep Warm This Spring With A Polo Neck Jumper

Spring is a funny time of the year as it is  neither freezing cold or boiling hot but we would still like to cast off the heavy overcoat and feel much freer.  Wearing your warm clothing underneath your other clothes is a fantastic way to keep warm and look stylish at the same time.  This is achieved by wearing a thin polo neck jumper made preferably of cashmere or any other warm material underneath your shirt, jacket or gilet.  The beauty about a polo neck is that it can also be worn alone with jeans or formal trousers.

The polo neck or turtle neck top became famous  in the sixties when the Beatles posed as a group for a promotional photograph wearing polo neck jumpers.  More recently one Direction have reignited the sex appeal of this staple piece of clothing by wearing polo neck tops under jackets.  Probably one of the most famous wearer of polo neck tops is Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple Inc, he chose to wear polo necks every time he announced the new developments in his iPhone technology. Polo necks are no longer the clothes of science boffins.

This staple piece of clothing is actually more popular than you think it is, there is even a whole Pintrest site dedicated to polo necks.  Online stores such as, stand-Out.Net, Fashion Beans, Ebay and ASOS have all written blog posts giving advice on the best way to wear a polo neck jumper.

Winter is coming…

So, Winter is coming! (…how many times have you heard that recently? Game of Thrones fans you’ll know what we’re talking about). Winter means it’s time to get the coat out/buy a new coat/both because you an never have too many coats in our opinion. Whatever your preferred coat style whether it be puffa, Parker, trench, anorak, ski, leather, denim, we are going to recommend some wool coats to you today.

Sometimes a ski jacket or your parka isn’t ideal to wear into the office or for an evening out. This is where a wool coat comes in. Wool has the two big advantages of being naturally water resistant and also very insulating (think sheep on a hill on a rainy day in winter). They can be quite an investment so make sure you consider what sort of fit, style and colour would be best for you as there are many to choose from.

Are Boxers The New Outer Wear For Women?

For many years girlfriends have been, ‘borrowing’, clothes from their boyfriend’s wardrobes and worn them in tantalising and seductive ways. The most frequently borrowed item from a bloke can literally be the shirt off their back.  If your girlfriend is slim and considerably smaller than you your shirt can make the most delightful mini dress you could ever imagine.  Worn with a silk tie around the waist and very little else this piece of improvised clothing is enough to make you late for the train in the morning. We will never forget Julia Roberts walking around Rodeo Drive in her impossibly short blue hooker skirt and Richard Gere’s  shirt tied seductively at the waist thus enabling her to use his credit card to the best of its ability.

Boxer Shorts

A very brief article in the Guardian seems to suggest that young women are now resorting to stealing the concept of men’s boxer shorts as an alternative to hot pants.  To be perfectly honest the examples they have used to demonstrate this possibility are so weak that the likelihood of your girlfriend wearing you boxer shorts out of the house is likely to be very small.  Apparently Rhianna is one lady who has decided to sex up her outfit by wearing a lose pair of white shorts, resembling boxer shorts, whether she looks sexy or not is in the eye of the beholder – I think the fact that she is wearing a bra top does finish the entire look of the outfit though!
